Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar was one of the American and British sitar artist. She was first in her age group to receive an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging star on the Indian sitar. She is both the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. She was born in 1982 in London. The first few years of her life were spent between London as well as New Delhi. In the age of thirteen, she gave her first show in New Delhi. After that, she relocated into Encinitas CA, where she received the High School diploma with honors in 1999. Although she is still very young, Anouskha is a star in her performing and recording. She regularly performs together with her dad, and has performed with him for many years. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years following her debut solo album. The stage work she has done is extensive for she has performed in most of the major stages in the world. Anoushka isn't only a singer. Bapi The Love of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that is a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In addition, she has appeared in a number of films. In 2003, she played the role in the film Dance Like a Man where she is an aspiring Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka's career is still developing and she'll continue to achieve great success in the near future. Anoushka was born in England and spent a lot of her youth split between London in the UK and Delhi. She then moved to California and attended high school there. She started learning to play the guitar at age 9 and performed on the sitar for the 75th anniversary of the birth of her father in Delhi four years later. The father of Anoushka travelled across the world with her and she was able to gain many new experiences. When she was still teenagers, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD music festival. The youngest female to be awarded the House of Commons Shield, presented by British Parliament in recognition of her musicianship and artistry within music and the Asian Arts.
